The tax authority of Lithuania has sold their seized crypto. The local police in February closed an investigation and sold the seized bitcoin, ether, and XMR for fiat. The bureaus of the country did this for the first time, and while doesn’t share many details about the process, the spokesman said, “in the future, it needs to be faster and simpler the actions like this”.
Several countries already sold their crypto before, because, in most of the cases, there are no laws and rules for owning and storing crypto by governments or agencies, they can handle that as money. Sometimes the auction could be extremely big, in the USA we saw a 4k bitcoin-sell, but in 2018, in Bulgary, the authorities sold 213 thousand bitcoin, which they seized from criminal activities.
